Lent is a vital season in the church’s liturgical year that brings Christians closer to God. It is a period of 40 days (not counting Sundays) that commemorates Jesus’ 40-day fast in the desert. During this time, Christians often fast and pray to deepen their relationship with God and seek forgiveness for their sins. Repentance is the primary theme of this season, and it is the perfect time to let go of grudges and forgive others for the harm they have done to us.
The most common way to celebrate Lent today is by fasting from something, whether it be food, activity, or habit. By abstaining from something, we are reminded to focus our attention on Christ and pray instead of indulging in our desires. As we approach Easter, I urge you to observe a Holy Lent by attending as many of the following observances as possible. This season is an excellent opportunity to grow spiritually, strengthen your faith, and renew your commitment to God.
